EXPOSITION 4 FEMMES
MAROC MALI FRANCE

This exhibition is the result of an invitation to four African or Afro-descendant artists to collaborate with each other, four women with different but complementary creative techniques, four sensibilities that share a common interest in questioning, through their work, the place of women in Africa, the notion of identity, narrative, and memory. These are questions that sometimes continue to disturb.
On one side are Fatoumata Diabaté and Hélène Jayet, both based in Montpellier. They share a common interest in photography as a starting point for a universe that opens up to other disciplines.
On the other side are Khadija Tnana and Ghislaine Ouazanni, active and committed figures based in Morocco, known for their freedom of tone and expression.
This project is above all an opportunity to bring these four unique individuals together through a cross-residency organized in the summer of 2023. Photography, drawing, painting, textiles, weaving, writing... through all these techniques, these four artists compose a choral narrative around the current condition of African women, marked by a thousand contradictions.
The program includes plenary sessions, round tables, exhibition stands, and opportunities for discussion to highlight concrete solutions, innovative technologies, and projects led by the Biennale's partners.
The goal is to broaden the dialogue, develop a new paradigm for cooperation, and work together to build sustainable responses to the health, ecological, and climate crises affecting our territories
