Tropisme s’étend hors les murs et construit des ponts à l’international
Tropisme s’étend hors les murs et construit des ponts à l’international et particulièrement entre les continents Européen et Africain.
Depuis son ouverture en 2019, Tropisme s’est ancrée sur son territoire mais s’est aussi tournée dès le début vers l’international. Depuis 6 ans se sont multipliées les résidences artistiques croisées, les événements internationaux, les échanges entre écosystèmes d’entrepreneurs créatifs et les missions d’appui à la structuration de projets culturels.
BIENNALE EURO-AFRICA MONTPELLIER
Un temps fort culturel célébrant la coopération entre l’Afrique et l’Europe.
Montpellier et sa métropole vibrent au rythme de l’Afrique à travers plus de 100 événements, réunissant 300 artistes, penseurs, scientifiques, sportifs et entrepreneurs. Cette 2ᵉ édition mobilise plus de 50 partenaires engagés dans une programmation riche et collaborative sur tout le territoire.
TIERS-LIEUX POUR L'EUROPE
Acteur engagé du mouvement des Tiers-Lieux, Tropisme a coorganisé et accueilli en juin 2023 le premier rassemblement européen dédié.
Pendant trois jours, plus de 200 représentants et partenaires ont échangé autour des enjeux, du fonctionnement et de l’avenir des Tiers-Lieux, à travers débats et ateliers.
Trois grandes thématiques ont structuré les échanges :
Production : rôle des Tiers-Lieux dans la création d’activités, l’innovation, la relocalisation, la formation et l’emploi.
Culture : émergence de nouvelles formes artistiques locales et implication des citoyens.
Citoyenneté : diversification des activités portée par les habitants, nouvelles formes de gouvernance et impact sur la cohésion sociale et le développement des territoires.
HIP-HOP AFRICA CONNEXION
Depuis ses origines, la culture Hip-Hop incarne un puissant levier de lien social, d’expression libre et d’émancipation des jeunesses à travers le monde.
Elle porte des valeurs de liberté, de droits et de démocratie.
HipHop Africa Connexion soutient des opérateurs culturels et sportifs africains qui créent des espaces de dialogue et d'engagement pour la jeunesse.
À travers ce programme, Tropisme accompagne des lieux et festivals dans trois pays pour consolider leur modèle économique, élargir leur réseau et pérenniser leurs actions en faveur des jeunes.
CRÉATION BOTSWANA
Création Botswana est un programme d’accompagnement pour les créateurs de mode, visant à structurer et faire rayonner l’industrie créative du Botswana.
Lancé avec le National Arts Council, l’Alliance Française de Gaborone et l’Ambassade de France, il allie mentorat, développement business et ouverture à l’international.
Objectif : former une nouvelle génération de designers capables d’impacter durablement la scène locale, régionale et mondiale.
UNITED STATES OF AFRICA
Pendant 9 jours, la Halle Tropisme devient un territoire africain sans frontières, géopolitiques, artistiques ou linguistiques.
Un QG transafricain pluridisciplinaire imaginé dans le cadre de la saison Africa 2020, dédiée aux 54 pays du continent.
Musiciens, plasticiens, penseurs, chefs, entrepreneurs, danseurs ou cinéastes : tous incarnent une Afrique contemporaine, créative, plurielle et innovante.
Une Afrique à 360°, riche de 1000 initiatives, souvent ignorées par les visions occidentales de l’innovation, mais porteuse de nouveaux modèles pour imaginer les futurs.
GLOBAL CAMEROUN
Mode, musique, performances, stand-up, projections et gastronomie rythment ce voyage entre traditions et récits contemporains.
Un temps fort qui explore de nouvelles coopérations égalitaires entre l’Afrique et l’Europe, en valorisant les réponses créatives de la jeunesse face aux enjeux actuels, ici comme là-bas.
INSTANT FRANÇAIS CASABLANCA X TROPISME
Quatre artistes, un récit choral sur la condition féminine africaine
Cette exposition réunit quatre créatrices africaines ou afro-descendantes aux techniques variées — photo, dessin, peinture, textile, texte — autour des thèmes de l’identité, du récit et de la mémoire.
Fatoumata Diabaté et Hélène Jayet (Montpellier) partent de la photographie pour explorer d'autres médiums, tandis que Khadija Tnana et Ghislaine Ouazanni (Maroc) revendiquent une liberté de ton engagée.
Née d’une résidence croisée à l’été 2023, cette rencontre artistique donne vie à une réflexion collective sur la place des femmes en Afrique, entre traditions et mutations contemporaines.
Tropisme extends beyond its walls and builds bridges internationally, particularly between Europe and Africa.
Since opening in 2019, Tropisme has established itself in its local area but has also focused on international outreach from the outset. Over the past six years, there has been a proliferation of cross-cultural artistic residencies, international events, exchanges between creative entrepreneurial ecosystems, and missions to support the structuring of cultural projects.
EURO-AFRICA MONTPELLIER BIENNIAL
A cultural highlight celebrating cooperation between Africa and Europe.
Montpellier and its metropolitan area vibrate to the rhythm of Africa through more than 100 events, bringing together 300 artists, thinkers, scientists, athletes, and entrepreneurs. This second edition mobilizes more than 50 partners engaged in a rich and collaborative program throughout the region.
THIRD PLACES FOR EUROPE
As a committed player in the Third Places movement, Tropisme co-organized and hosted the first dedicated European gathering in June 2023.
Over three days, more than 200 representatives and partners discussed the challenges, functioning, and future of Third Places through debates and workshops.
Three main themes structured the discussions:
Production: the role of Third Places in creating activities, innovation, relocation, training, and employment.
Culture: the emergence of new local art forms and citizen involvement.
Citizenship: diversification of activities led by residents, new forms of governance, and the impact on social cohesion and regional development.
HIPHOP AFRICA CONNEXION
Since its origins, Hip-Hop culture has been a powerful lever for social cohesion, free expression, and youth empowerment around the world.
It embodies the values of freedom, rights, and democracy.
HipHop Africa Connexion supports African cultural and sports operators who create spaces for dialogue and engagement for young people.
Through this program, Tropisme supports venues and festivals in three countries to consolidate their economic model, expand their network, and sustain their actions in favor of young people.
CREATION BOTSWANA
Creation Botswana is a support program for fashion designers, aimed at structuring and promoting Botswana's creative industry.
Launched with the National Arts Council, the Alliance Française de Gaborone, and the French Embassy, it combines mentoring, business development, and international outreach.
The goal: to train a new generation of designers capable of making a lasting impact on the local, regional, and global scene.

For nine days, the Halle Tropisme will become an African territory without borders, geopolitical, artistic, or linguistic.
A multidisciplinary trans-African headquarters imagined as part of the Africa 2020 season, dedicated to the 54 countries of the continent.
Musicians, visual artists, thinkers, chefs, entrepreneurs, dancers, and filmmakers: all embody a contemporary, creative, diverse, and innovative Africa.
A 360° view of Africa, rich with 1,000 initiatives, often ignored by Western visions of innovation, but offering new models for imagining the future.
GLOBAL CAMEROON
Fashion, music, performances, stand-up comedy, screenings, and gastronomy punctuate this journey between traditions and contemporary narratives.
A highlight that explores new egalitarian cooperation between Africa and Europe, highlighting the creative responses of young people to current challenges, both here and there.
FRENCH INSTITUTE CASABLANCA X TROPISME
Four artists, a choral narrative on the African female condition
This exhibition brings together four African or Afro-descendant female creators using a variety of techniques—photography, drawing, painting, textiles, text—around the themes of identity, narrative, and memory.
Fatoumata Diabaté and Hélène Jayet (Montpellier) use photography as a starting point to explore other mediums, while Khadija Tnana and Ghislaine Ouazanni (Morocco) assert a freedom of tone that is both committed and engaging.
Born out of a cross-cultural residency in the summer of 2023, this artistic encounter gives rise to a collective reflection on the place of women in Africa, between traditions and contemporary changes.
